DirtFish Motorsports Heads To Louisville

Following Conner Martell’s incredible first round win at the Red Bull Global Rallycross Memphis, he and DirtFish Motorsports teammate, James Rimmer have been taking some time to prepare for round two in the home of the Kentucky Derby – Louisville, KY. Over the last two and a half weeks, both Conner and James have been behind the wheel of the DirtFish GRC Lites car and Subaru BRZ rally cars training and working on different techniques to aid them in bringing home another top finish. Both drivers have said that one of the biggest benefits of driving for the DirtFish team is having access to the facility and cars, which gives them an unprecedented opportunity to train whenever it is needed. This week, they are taking part in a DirtFish Three Day Driving Program. However, this Three Day is a little different from the standard Three Day Programs our students normally see. This Three Day class has been catered to help teach experienced drivers new car control techniques with the goal of making them faster, more competitive drivers, while also giving them more confidence behind the wheel of the cars they compete in. Conner and James were joined by five other up-and-coming young drivers from multiple driving disciplines, including the F4 US Championship open wheel series, Lucas Oil Off Road and NASCAR K&N series.

The track that the Red Bull Global Rallycross team has set up for the teams in Louisville is very different than the layout they saw at Memphis International Raceway. This time around, the course designers were able to start with a blank canvas in the parking lots surrounding the Kentucky Expo Center. The Louisville track is roughly half the length of the setup they put together in Memphis and full of mostly tight and technical turns with very few opportunities to pass. That means it will be key to qualify on top and win all of the heat races to give the drivers a front row starting position for the final.

This is the first time that Red bull Global Rallycross has visited not only Louisville, but the entire state of Kentucky. It will be a great opportunity for the young race series and all of the teams to reach an all new fan base while showing the locals why rallycross is the fastest growing motorsport in North America!

Until then, take a look back at the race from Memphis, TN in the video below:
