Here at DirtFish Media, we’re quite big into words. Words are good. They make stories tick and social talk. So, that whole thing about a picture being worth a thousand words, well we weren’t so sure about that. Until we remembered one word. McKlein.

Reinhard Klein and Colin McMaster are the two most widely travelled photographers in the history of the World Rally Championship and their archive is the biggest collection of rally (there’s plenty of racing fever in there as well…) pictures anywhere on planet earth. So, an agreement between McKlein and DirtFish had to be made.

And now it’s done.

And now we can bring to life words about Moby Dick Pressing on Regardless in Michigan in 1972, Michèle Mouton wrestling a Lancia Stratos to a Monte seventh in ’78 or Colin McRae and Richard Burns getting to grips with each at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron a bit more recently.

Emerging briefly from exploring the depths of the McKlein archive, DirtFish Media’s marketing director Trevor Wert said: “Have you seen this stuff? It’s just incredible. Everything, literally everything, is here and it’s all such high quality.

“Like the rest of the rally world, we’ve all been huge fans of what Colin, Reinhard and all the incredible photographers they’ve worked with have done to contribute to McKlein over the years.

“We’ve had the Wider View hanging on our walls year after year and our shelves are packed with the likes of Just Colin. So to have this chance to work together with such a highly-respected organization now is just fantastic news for us and rallying fans. We’re excited to share even more of the greatest stories from the history of our sport.”

The sentiment was similar on the other side of this alliance, with McMaster looking forward to taking some of the sport’s most iconic imagery and incorporating it into all-new content.

“At McKlein, photographs are precious to us – the gold is in the files,” said McMaster. “Our archive, the biggest rally image bank in the world, dates back to the 1950s. In partnership with DirtFish we are going to unlock this treasure trove and present the highlights as they’ve never been seen before.

“We’re super-excited to be part of the dynamic team at Dirtfish Media. Together we will be offering a fresh take on old pictures.”

McKlein images will feature heavily across the DirtFish site, but beyond those features, we will also be exploring the stories behind the Mc and Klein in McKlein.
