Canary Isles Rally

FIA sanctioned rallies in May are now being postponed with the Canary Islands Rally, which was due to be the opening round of the European Rally Championship, being pushed back.

The ERC series promoter Eurosport Events was left with little option but to reschedule the all-asphalt Las Palmas-based event after the Spanish and Canaries government recommended the postponement of all events until the beginning of May.

The Canary Islands Rally had been scheduled to run from May 7-9.

This is the second ERC round to be postponed. The season was set to open with the Azores Rally at the end of this month, but that has been put back to a potential September date.

ERC and the Canaries are seeking FIA approval for a new date next week.

For now, the ERC season will beginwith Rally Liepaja in Latvia at the end of May.
